All across the country, on frozen ponds, community arenas and in state-of-the-art facilities, Canadians are playing our favourite national pastime: HOCKEY. The game is without a doubt tied to our collective sense of what it means to be Canadian and is perhaps our most identifiable icon. For some Canadians, it’s what defines them. They say it’s what binds this country together.
Getting back to basics and skating on the Pond holds special memories for all of us. We have put together Canada’s largest Pond Hockey event for the past 10 years playing host to 1600 players and 260 teams over 2 weekends and it’s an event not to be missed if you are a fan of the game!
26 outdoor rinks, with snowbanks as boards, nets 6′ wide and 10″ high to slide the puck into (no slapshots or goalies, just skating and passing) 5 games for each team plus qualifying teams move on to Sunday Finals.
What do you play for? Money? Nope! Pride!…and the coveted Maple Cup to hoist over your head!
No matter if you have played in the NHL, OHL or House league there is a division for everyone’s skill level and most importantly FUN level for both men and women. Once we are done on the pond Saturday evening join us for our annual banquet and Pond Party hosted by Deerhurst Resort… its the most winter fun you can have in 3 days!
